Our Mission

To plan, develop and implement restoration of the historic channels between the five lakes of the Chisago Lakes Chain for the enhancement of tourism, environmental and economic resources.

The Chisago Lakes Restoration Association (C.L.R.A.), pronounced "CLARA", is a non- profit corporation made up of local residents and businesses who are dedicated to restoring these historic navigable channels. We are determined to do this without local tax assessment. Instead we will achieve this through fund raising, donations. and public grants.

It is extremely critical that all who are interested in returning our Chisago Lakes to their magnificent original form, as the treasured jewel of the Chisago Lakes Community, ACT NOW while the future planning of Hwy. 8 is still on the drawing table.

The lakes are already hydrologically connected - only through man-made interference, were the channels filled in for roads and bridges ( something that would never be allowed today!), that we do not recognize them visually as they once were.

If the support of the Chisago Lakes Community to make our lakes once again navigable is not heard loud and clear by those making the decisions, and the bridges are not included when Hwy. 8 is rebuilt "IT WILL BE TO LATE".

Once the work is done on Hwy. 8, it will be many years before the opportunity will present itself again to connect our lakes.
